A statement from Cheltenham Borough Council:

Cheltenham Borough Council is concerned about safety and speed on the town’s roads, and the effect that traffic has on the quality of the town’s air. Informed by cross-party member scrutiny of these issues we take the view that use of 20mph limits is one of the potential measures that might help address these concerns and want to know what you think.

Cheltenham’s residents, businesses and visitors are being asked for their views on proposals to reduce vehicle speeds in residential roads and the town centre to 20 mph. These plans follow the ‘20’s Plenty for Us’ campaign which aims to make communities more people-friendly and streets more pleasant places to be.

A public consultation will run from Monday 6 November until Monday 4 December and residents, businesses and visitors can have their say in an online survey and find out more about the campaign and proposals on the council’s website.
