The purpose is to empower young people, to give them a voice and embed them in the decision-making process of the Parish and other organisations.
A group of adult volunteers, with the requisite skills and experience in working with young people, put together a structure, including a charter, with a group of 16 young people. It ran for some 18 months until May 2013.
It has been temporarily put on hold because it was thought more appropriate to run things through the newly set up Youth Club and involve the services of the University. This would be as part of a package to form a number of Forums around Cheltenham Borough, to mirror the kind of successful format that works so well in Stroud District.
It is a work in progress and will move forward once a new team of adult supporters are in place.
There are an increasing number of activities for young people that run out of the Youth and Community Centre, which falls under the umbrella of the Parish Council
