What is our place in nature? How can it help us? The pandemic has seen a change in people's attitudes towards local natural environments. Can we maintain this change and why should we?

Mindy Pickering has lived in CK for 15 years and joined CKC during the pandemic. She has run Forest School groups in and around Cheltenham for the last 12 years supporting many people to enjoy, care for and connect with their natural environment. She will be exploring how nature can help us and why it could be the most important thing we can do today.

Our informal "Welcome Wednesday" drop-in meet ups are on the second Wednesday of the month at Sixways Wine Bar from 10.30am onwards. Our popular "Thirsty Thursday" sessions take place at the Charlton Kings Parish Council conference room at 7.00pm every last Thursday of the month with free talks from experts on a wide variety of business and wellness related topics. We also have an active WhatsApp group helping our members to keep in touch and ask advice. Whether you need a local tradesman urgently or want someone to help you with your VAT return, someone will always have the answer!

We are delighted to have an ongoing working partnership with the Charlton Kings Parish Council helping us grow and develop, so we can continue to provide support, mentoring and advice for local business people.

This is what some of our members have said about the group:

"without [CKBC] we wouldn't have met Rosie. I saw her enthusiasm and passion for flowers on one of the Zoom calls and ordered a bouquet …. we have since chosen Rosie to do the flowers at our wedding next year. I guess it goes to show the power of the network and the value of working together"

"I started attending the meetings regularly during lockdown. Being able to talk to others in the same boat and share my issues with them was a huge relief at a very stressful time. Since opening up I have maintained those contacts and find the knowledge sharing and support invaluable."

"During lockdown ……. I really enjoyed the opportunity of getting to know and mix with other local business folk in Charlton Kings over our weekly meet ups on Zoom. Being self-employed can feel all-consuming and isolating. Having the opportunity to get to know other local business owners and to witness their similar challenges and to give an receive support was a real boost for all of us, during such a difficult time."

"I've been silently in the background whilst life has been bumpy and I haven't been able to do much work, yet I've still felt the support of the group"

"I think this group has been brilliant. It's been so nice to meet and network with local people who are on a similar journey with their own businesses"

"an informative and enjoyable night, as Thirsty Thursdays always are"

"It is the perfect example of what I'd hoped for in a local business network; warm, friendly and hugely supportive with a focus on community over competition. A group who genuinely want to help you and your business grow and thrive. Each meeting I come away feeling more inspired and connected. I am very thankful for this wonderful group and all those I have met through it."
