About me
I have lived in Charlton Kings for over eight years. I am a keen allotment holder. My wife is a leader of the local Girl Guide unit.
After I left school, I did an apprenticeship as an electrician. I worked as an electrician for several years before moving into the office and running a small team that delivered commercial new build electrics. Subsequently I worked as a surveyor before moving to my current role as Procurement Manager for McTaggart Mickel, a Scottish housebuilding company which has now opened an English division.
Why I became a Councillor
I saw an advertisement for new Councillors when I was looking to take on an allotment. I was motivated to apply because I intend to continue living in Charlton Kings for the foreseeable future and I wanted to get involved in my local community. I felt that my professional skills would be particularly relevant to the refurbishment of the Kings Hall which is likely to be a major project for the Parish Council in the next few years.
