Cllr Clive Hodges
South Ward
Cllr Hodges is Chair of the Finance and General Purposes Committee.
About me
I have lived in Charlton Kings since 1990. I have been a Governor, and Chair of Governors, at Glenfall School and am currently a Governor at Balcarras School. Both my children attended Glenfall and Balcarras Schools. I helped set up CLC Striders, an inclusive and competitive running club, based in Cheltenham. I am a member of Lilley Brook golf club and a season ticket holder at Cheltenham Town FC.
I have a degree in Economics from the University of East Anglia and am a Chartered Accountant. After a range of accountancy roles, I was employed by a government agency to implement commercial accounting systems prior to privatisation. I participated in a management buy-out of part of the privatised business to create the UK's leading food testing laboratory. I retired following sale of the business to a major French company.
After retirement, I ran a small business focusing on refurbishment and rental of residential properties in Charlton Kings.
Why I became a Councillor
I put myself forward as a Councillor as I felt that my professional business and financial expertise and my understanding of planning regulations, acquired in my post-retirement property business, would be of value I also felt that becoming a Councillor, and working as part of a team with some of my fellow Charlton Kings residents, would be a good way to widen my social network and to give something back to my local community.
