Cllr Duncan Munro
South Ward
Cllr Munro is the Chair of the Community Assets Committee. He represents the Parish Council on the management group of the Restoring Cheltenham's Escarpment Grasslands Project.
About me
I have lived in Charlton Kings since 2012 and am involved on a voluntary basis in a number of local organisations within Gloucestershire, including the University of Gloucestershire, Dean Close School and Cheltenham Christian Arts.
Early in my career I was a secondary school teacher in inner London and a parish minister in Sheffield before joining the steel industry where I worked for twenty-four years. In 2005 we moved to Scotland where I was Director of an independent charitable grant making trust. Since moving to Cheltenham I have been a self-employed Management Consultant supporting organisations in the Third Sector.
I am married with two adult children and am now semi-retired. I maintain an interest in history, economics, theology and am a regular dog-walker and enjoy researching family history. I am an ordained priest in the Church of England and an active member of the congregation of Holy Apostles Church in Charlton Kings.
Why I became a Councillor
I first came in contact with the Parish Council due to a personal interest in a planning application that was under consideration. This crystallised my belief that local residents must get involved in shaping our community, both the physical environment and the services provided to local people, to safeguard it for future generations.
