Al-anon Family Groups

Details:

For people whose lives are or have been affected by someone else's drinking. It is a support group where people can share experiences to find the confidence to deal with someone else's drinking, and happiness whether the other person is still drinking or not. Help available 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. throughout the year. There is a local group in Cheltenham.

Badham Pharmacy

Details:

Offers free smoking cessation advice and Nicotine Replacement therapy with a voucher from a GP. The patient regularly sees the pharmacist to discuss how they are getting on and to ensure the medication given to help the patient stop smoking is the most appropriate option. There is no need to visit the GP first, appointments can be made directly with the pharmacist.

CGL is a drug and alcohol recovery service for anyone who needs support with drug and alcohol use. Provides support, advice and treatment options. Also has a needle exchange. Gives support to people supporting others with drugs and alcohol concerns and recovery. The centre has courses and workshops tailored to different people's needs. EATA Recovery Services

Details:

Provides an alcohol addiction rehabilitation centre in Cheltenham. Alcohol addiction is treated as a health problem rather than a behavioural problem. Offers medical and pyschtherapeautic treatments designed to address cravings and relapses. Offers Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help individuals understand how their addictive behaviour began so that it can be reversed with the help of a therapist.

A non-profit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drug use has become a major problem. It is for recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. It is a programme of complete abstinence from all drugs. The only requirement for membership is the desire to stop using.

The Nelson Trust

Details:

Works with women who have addictions and provides holistic support for women and their families across nine areas of assessment including sex working and domestic abuse. There are residential programmes to help people change their ways of thinking, and there are many activities that women can become involved with including well-being, creative and life skills options. Each client has their own key worker to help an individual develop a plan to address their needs. The Nelson Trust also engages in outreach, hospital visits, GP appointments, Court Advocacy and other ways of support. The nearest centre in in Gloucester near the town centre and the women's community services are county-wide.

Youth Support Team

Details:

Offers a free specialist advice service for young people under 18 with alcohol and substance mis-use issues. Offers psycho-social interventions; specialist harm reduction; youth justice interventions; family work; pharmacological interventions; facilitation to residential care; support for other agencies.
