The end of year accounts and internal control procedures are reviewed annually by the internal auditor who is independent of the Parish Council.

Three-year rolling business plan

At our Full Council meeting on 29th November 2021, a three-year rolling business plan was approved. This document was one of the outputs of our two Parish Council Strategy days in October and November 2021. Its purpose is to guide the Parish Council's longer term operational and financial strategy, provide a framework for decision-making and to provide a starting point for our annual budget deliberations which take place each January. It is a "living document", which is intended to be updated and adapted periodically, in line with changing circumstances and priorities.

The current version, as agreed by Full Council, is shown below. It demonstrates the Parish Council's ongoing commitment to maintain our community's assets, particularly our Allotments, St Mary's churchyard, Church Piece, Grange Field and Cheltenham's escarpment grasslands. It also demonstrates our commitment to provide services and support for our community, particularly through its CK Futures, CK Health Connect and Community Grant programmes.

Precept and Budget for 2021-22

The Precept is that element of your Council Tax that is paid to Charlton Kings Parish Council. The precept for the year 2021/22 is £146,175 and, together with the budget for the year, was agreed at the Full Council meeting on 25th January 2021.

It is anticipated that a further £26,931 will be provided from other income or general reserves which will increase the total budget for 2021/22 to £173,106. A further £92,125 is available for release during the 2021/22 financial year from earmarked reserves.

Risk Management

The Council regularly reviews its Risk Management strategy and has adopted a prudent Investment Strategy.

Register of Assets

The Clerk maintains a Register of Assets. Please contact the Parish Office on clerk@charltonkingsparishcouncil.gov.uk or 01242 250087 if you would like further information about the Register or would like to inspect it.

Grants Awarded

The Parish Council makes small awards to community groups in Charlton Kings. Applications may be submitted between May and November each year.
