Sustainable Living Workshop – Ethical Investment

Sustainable Living Workshop – Ethical Investment

Wed, 11 Jan 2023 19:00

This month we are thinking about what Ethical Investment means, explaining the terminology around it and looking at where you can go to get the information you need to make decisions which are helpful for the environment.*

*No financial advice will be given in this workshop

How does my money have an impact?

Why does it matter?

Where can I get more information?

Come and enjoy great conversations in an open and collaborative environment. There is no charge for these workshops but a donation of £1 per person is suggested for this workshop to cover the cost of tea and coffee in the break.

This month's drop-in is with Cllr Jan Honeywill (Chair of the Parish Council), Cllr Felicity Parnham (CK Futures Lead and Vice Chair of the Parish Council) and Cllr Ned Holt (Joint Lead Rights of Way). We hope that a day-time drop in might be helpful for residents who are unable to attend the Council Meetings in the evening or who prefer a more informal setting. Though the drop-in is loosely themed around #warmcheltenham, our Cllrs are happy to talk about anything relating to the work of the Parish Council.

Councillors will be available to talk from 12.00pm - 2.30pm

CK Futures Talk – An introduction to Doughnut Economics

CK Futures Talk – An introduction to Doughnut Economics

Wed, 25 Jan 2023 19:30

CK Futures Talk – An introduction to Doughnut Economics

Join us in the Stanton Hall on Church Piece, next to Charlton Kings Library, for an introductory talk on economics featuring The Liminality's, Raechel Kelly.

Kate Raworth, the author and economist behind the award winning Doughnut Economics book of 2017, came up with the theory after becoming increasingly disillusioned with the state of economics and the core theories we have based our economic system upon.

Come along to this interactive event to learn more about the doughnut concept, explore the seven key ideas behind it and maybe question some of our long held assumptions about the current economic system.

What is GDP? Why the obsession with growth? Is there another way? How can we get into the sweet spot where both people and planet can thrive?

There might even be some actual doughnuts involved!

The talk will start at 7.30pm on Wednesday 25th January in the Stanton Hall (next to the Charlton Kings Library), Charlton Kings.

This is a free event hosted by CK Futures, a Charlton Kings Parish Council Initiative.

You can book this event Free via Eventbrite.
