Charlton Kings Clean Air Action Group – Next Meeting!

Our next meeting is on Tuesday, 29th April, and we're getting hands-on with two key projects:

🔹 Car Sharing in Charlton Kings – We're exploring ways to make cars available for multiple people to use when they need them, reducing the number of vehicles on our roads.
🔹 Idling Reduction Campaign – Tackling unnecessary engine idling to improve air quality and cut emissions.

We're splitting into groups to push these projects forward—so if you're interested in getting involved, now's the perfect time! Everyone is welcome, whether you want to contribute ideas, help with planning, or just learn more.

Annual Parish Meeting - Focus on Online Safety with Ellen Roome

Join us for the Annual Parish Meeting on 30th April at Balcarras School, featuring a special presentation on Online Safety for Parents and Carers by Ellen Roome. 🛡️💻

We're very grateful to Ellen Roome for joining us to share her personal story and raise awareness on the dangers young people face online. Following her personal tragedy, Ellen has made it her mission to help protect children from online risks and raise awareness about the challenges they encounter. She will also be sharing practical tools to help parents and carers protect their children in the digital world.

St Mary's Churchyard Clear-up

The Churchyard of St Mary's Church is jointly managed by the Church and Charlton Kings Parish Council for the quiet enjoyment of all.
It would be great if you could lend a hand to keep it as a space that can be enjoyed.

We meet at 9:30 for around 2 hours to tidy and undertake light gardening duties to keep nature in check and allowed to flourish as it should.

It would be great if you can bring along basic gardening tools and a good pair of gloves - Refreshments Provided!

Charlton Kings Repair Cafe

Join us for the Charlton Kings Repair Café on Saturday, 17th May, from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm at Stanton Hall (next to the library).

Bring along your broken items and give them a new lease of life with the help of our talented volunteer repairers!

Services available this month:

  • Knife and tool sharpening
  • Fabric and textile repair
  • Small electrical repair
  • Non-electrical repair
  • Bike repair

The Repair Café is part of our mission to reduce waste, save money, and build a sustainable, supportive community. You can read more about this initiative here.

We'll also be collecting donations for Vision 21, the charity that supports our Repair Café and runs 13 others across Gloucestershire.

Got a few extra seedlings? Looking to swap out some spare plants for something new? Join us at the Community Allotment near Beeches Playing Field for a relaxed seedling and plant swap!

This is a great opportunity to:
- Share your surplus seedlings and young plants
- Pick up something new for your plot or garden
- Chat with other growers and exchange tips

Everyone is welcome – whether you have an allotment, grow in a garden, on a balcony or are just getting started. Bring what you can, take what you need (no pressure if you're short on spares!).

If you're bringing seedlings or plants, please make sure they're in individual pots and clearly labelled – it helps everyone know what's what!Pop by, have a browse, and say hello!
