Remembrance Day Service in Charlton Kings - Sunday, 8th November 2020
The annual Service of Remembrance will again be held at the War Memorial on Sunday 8th November, although it will have to be a very different event in this, dangerous, pandemic year.
DUE TO COVID-19 SAFETY GUIDANCE, ATTENDANCE AT THIS EVENT REGRETTABLY IS BY INVITATION ONLY. HOWEVER IT WILL BE LIVE STREAMED FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO ATTEND VIRTUALLY (See below).
As the Great War of 1914-18 fades into history, in 2020 we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, "The Greatest War", that was the most destructive in human experience and a testament to the folly of war itself.
At 09.50 at the War Memorial, Charlton Kings will again remember and respect the sacrifice of so many local people among the host of those who suffered and died. The service will be compliant with Covid-19 rules which means that many fewer people will be able to be present in person. We are therefore, with great reluctance and regret, asking people not to attend in person this year unless you have been specifically invited. By keeping numbers down and enforcing clear social distancing, we will be able to hold a safe and respectful event to maintain the long tradition of our Remembrance Day services.
The whole service will be broadcast live on the St. Mary's church website - follow this link if you would like to join the service remotely: https://youtu.be/2_b7prmYOu4
We would like to thank Charlton Kings in Bloom for again in this difficult year replanting the flower bed around the War Memorial.
