CK Futures - Behind the Scenes at COP26
From Gloucestershire to Glasgow and back again. Three local residents who attended COP26 returned from the world's "greatest climate conference" last week to share their experiences at a special behind-the-scenes event in Charlton Kings last night.
CK Futures wants to thank Patricia Thornley - Director of EBRI (Energy & Bioproducts Research Institute) at Aston University, Isabella Kaminski - freelance journalist with the Guardian, and Raechel Kelly - The Liminality, and lead for Planet Cheltenham, for sharing their thoughts and reflections, and for guiding us through the maze of COP language, commitments and "greenwashing".
The trio were welcomed by a full house at DeepSpaceWorks on Hamilton Street, Charlton Kings, and the audience, as well as putting some probing questions to the panel, were also able to see the footprints from the Cheltenham CoP Vigil, and hear David Attenborough's CoP speech.
The importance of community action and personal empowerment to reduce our carbon footprint were among the topics covered in the fascinating hour-long session.
A recording is available here Behind the Scenes at COP 26 - YouTube.
